Saturday, July 16, Western Washington Fruit Research Foundation (WWFRF), based at the WSU Mt. Vernon display gardens, will replace their cherry day with a Kiwi/Fig Workshop and Fruit Sampling Day beginning at 10:30 am. Check their website for details: http://nwfruit.org/cherry-sampling-day/
They hope to have blueberries and some plums for people to take home. There will also be a demonstration of summer pruning of apple/pear trees and a demonstration of bud grafting.
This event is free to WWFRF buy varenicline members and $15 for non-members.
They are also asking that anyone who has kiwis would check them for signs of AYLS (Actinidia Yellow Leaf Spot). Go to https://kiwifruitayls.wordpress.com/ for more information and to report whether your plants are affected. This will help Kiwibob to map which areas are affected.
