SCFS Mtg “Netting Trees” Thurs 5/9/19

Please join us Thursday evening, May 9, 2019, from 7-9pm at the Snohomish Boys & Girls Club, located at 402 2nd Street, Snohomish to hear Barb Burrill from City Fruit, Seattle speak to us about how to net fruit trees to keep the pests out. Barb Burrill will provide tips and tricks to protect your fruit trees, so that they produce more fruit for consuming or sharing! She will discuss basics on local fruit tree pests and why & how to net your fruit trees. City Fruit is a Seattle non-profit that promotes the cultivation of urban fruit in order to nourish people, build community, and protect the climate. They promote the sharing of extra fruit, provide assistance in cooking and preserving the fruit, and protect the health and vitality of the trees. Each year, they harvest tens of thousands of pounds of fruit, sharing the vast majority of it with more than 50 food banks and community partners, across the city.

Please come a few minutes early to meet some of our members and enjoy some snacks, desserts, and beverages. We will start our meeting promptly at 7pm with a short business overview. We will continue to dedicate some time for a question & answer session for those members experiencing problems in their orchards (Please bring samples of your issue if possible), and then we will welcome our speaker.

Snohomish Boys and Girls Club, 402  2nd Street, Snohomish, WA  98290.
