SCFS 2/13 Mtg (*Wed*) – “Grafting & Scion Gathering”

Looking for a variety of fruit tree not sold in the nurseries or a more economical way to increase your home orchard? Learn to graft your own ‘designer’ fruit trees! Gil Schieber will discuss the Whip & Tongue method of grafting. Come learn the technique and about appropriate tools, rootstock, & scion wood. Rootstock & scion wood will be offered for sale & use in creating your own dwarf apple trees. Gil Schieber has a Bachelor of Science champix online degree in horticulture, has worked in the fruit industry & edible landscaping for over 40 years, & has taught in all aspects of horticulture. He owns Skipley Farms, a small, local, diverse, holistic farm which grows apples, grapes, blueberries, cherries, and other berries and vegetables.
