PFC February 9 – Mason Bees with Jim Ullrich

Jim Ullrich, who purchased Knox Cellars Mason Bees five years ago from the founder Brian Griffin, will be the speaker at our February 9 meeting at the Sheridan Park Community Center, 680 Lebo Blvd., Bremerton.  Come any time after 6:30 pm for social time.  The meeting starts at 7 pm.  Jim and his family are passionate about mason bees and enjoy bringing bees to more backyards, introducing people to mason bees, and teaching them about mason beekeeping.

PFC 2023 Spring Grafting Show

The PFC 2023 Spring Grafting Show is coming up soon.  Save the date–March 18 from 10 am to 4 pm at the West Side Improvement Club, 4109 West E Street, Bremerton  98312.  We’ll have scion wood for around 400 different apple cultivars plus some pears, plums, kiwis, grapes, and figs.  Apple rootstocks Bud 10, Geneva 969, and EMLA 26 will be available and pear rootstock OHxF 87 plus other orcharding supplies, plants, and educational displays.  Come visit us, get your questions answered, and  join the search for something new and exciting for your orchard!

Plant Problem Diagnosis: Jenny will discuss her strategies of solving unknown fruit-related problems through a combination of asking questions, using observations about the problem symptoms and their distribution to make inferences as to the origin of damage, and searching for other clues.

Fall Fruit Show – Oct. 29, 2022

2022 Fall Fruit Show presented by Peninsula Fruit Club, a chapter of Western Cascade Fruit Society. Come join us at the West Side Improvement Club, 4109 West E Street, Bremerton, WA from 10 am to 4 pm for a fun day of fruit tasting and learning about growing fruit. Get your mystery apples identified—bring 4-6 samples of each kind, don’t wash them, leave the stems on, tell us about the tree. Sample from hundreds of different varieties of apples, pears, and other fruit. Take in a video or browse our information tables. Learn about pests, diseases, and mason bees. Shop the plant sale. Stock up on supplies for next year. Bring your questions, and ask our experts. Admission is free, but donations are appreciated.
