There will be a meeting this Thursday, March 12, for those who choose to attend. Tim Kezele, arborist and master gardener, will speak to us about winter pruning. We meet in the Sheridan Park Community Center, 680 Lebo Blvd., Bremerton at 7 pm.
At our February meeting we will be doing last minute preps for our upcoming Spring Grafting Show. There are scions that still need to be labeled. Bring your scions too, and we can make labels for them. We will be teaching hands-on grafting with knives supplied and plenty of wood to practice on. For anyone who wants to work at the cashier’s table, there will be training with our new Square reader that will enable us to take credit cards, Google Pay, and Apple Pay. There will be flyers to hand out to members to post in the community and bookmarks to put in the libraries. Sounds like a busy meeting! Learn how to graft and make your own fruit
tree, or have one of our members make it for you. Add varieties to existing trees. Beginners welcome! Choose from hundreds of antique and modern
varieties of apples, pears, cherries, and plums. We will be selling EMLA 26
apple and OHxF 87 pear rootstock; scion wood for grafting; and sticks of figs,
grapes, and kiwis for rooting. Stock up on berries and other plants, footies
for insect protection, grafting knives, mason bees and houses, and other
supplies. Learn all about pests and diseases and what to do about them. Find
out about our native mason bees and how to care for them. We’ll have lots of
experts on hand to try to answer all your fruit related questions. Spend some
time with us at the show and learn all kinds of interesting things. Admission
is free, but donations are greatly appreciated.

2019 Fall Fruit Show presented by Peninsula Fruit Club, a
chapter of Western Cascade Fruit Society.
Come join us for a fun day of fruit tasting and learning about growing fruit. Get
your mystery apples identified—bring 4-6 samples of each kind, don’t wash,
leave the stems on, tell us about the tree.
Sample hundreds of different varieties of apples, pears, and other
fruit. Take in a video or browse our information tables. Learn about pests,
diseases, and mason bees. Find something
interesting at our plant sale, and stock up on supplies for next year. Ask questions of our experts. Admission is free but donations are
appreciated.
