At our meeting this month on Thursday, Oct. 12, Kiwibob will be teaching us all about growing kiwis. We meet at the Sheridan Park Community Center, 680 Lebo Blvd., Bremerton at 7 pm.
Our meeting this Thursday, September 14, will feature Jenny Glass, Diagnostic Plant Pathologist from the WSU Puyallup Research and Extension Center Plant and Insect Diagnostic Lab. Her topic will be tree and small fruit pathology with examples. If you have unidentified problems on your trees, canes, or bushes, bring them to the meeting in a sealed, clear bag. PFC member Angela Knapp Talamonte will give us a presentation this month on “Intergenerational Learning in the Garden”. Join us at the Sheridan Park Community Center, 680 Lebo Blvd., in Bremerton at 7 pm on Thursday, Aug. 10.
PFC member Jean Williams will talk about managing apple maggot flies and codling moths at this month’s meeting on Thursday, July 13 at 7 pm in the Sheridan Park Community Center, 680 Lebo Blvd., Bremerton. We will also have our ice cream social. The club will supply the ice cream, but please bring ripe fruit ready to share for toppings.
Our June meeting will feature Glenn Aldrich of Aldrich Berry Farm & Nursery http://aldrichberryfarm.com/history.html . Glenn and his family are long-time blueberry growers and also sell plants. Glenn will discuss all aspects of growing blueberries and have a question and answer session after his presentation. We meet at 7 pm in the Sheridan Park Community Center, 680 Lebo Blvd., Bremerton on Thursday, June 8.
Kelly Stroh from the Kitsap Conservation District will give a presentation on rain gardens and how they help protect our environment at this month’s meeting. We will also hold our annual plant sale. Bring your extra plants, starts, trees, etc. to donate to the club to sell. Make a donation to the club for whatever you buy. We meet at 7 pm on Thursday, May 11, at the Sheridan Park Community Center, 680 Lebo Blvd., in Bremerton.
This month’s speaker will be Sophia Gidlund from the Pierce County Conservation District. She will be speaking on soil testing and how to interpret and what to do with the results. She will also be able to talk about the role of the county conservation districts and take your questions. We meet Thursday, April 13, at the Sheridan Park Community Center, 680 Lebo Blvd. and Clare Ave., Bremerton, at 7 pm.

Learn how to graft and make your own fruit tree, or have one of our members make it for you. Add varieties to existing trees. Beginners welcome! Choose from dozens and dozens of antique and modern varieties of apples, pears, cherries, and plums. We will be selling M-26 apple, OHxF-333 pear, K-5 cherry, and K-1 plum rootstock and scion wood for grafting as well as sticks of figs, grapes, and kiwis for rooting. Stock up on berries and other plants, footies for insect protection, grafting knives, mason bees and houses, and other supplies. Learn all about pests and diseases and what to do about them. Find out about our native mason bees and how to care for them. We’ll have lots of experts on hand to try to answer all your fruit related questions. Spend some time with us at the show and learn all kinds of interesting things. Admission is free, but donations are greatly appreciated.
