Snohomish County Fruit Society (SCFS) will hold their next meeting on Thursday, May 10th at 7-9pm in the Snohomish Library. “Managing Pests in Fruit Trees” will be presented by Ingela Wanerstrand, a member of the Seattle Tree Fruit Society and the owner of Green Darner Garden Design, specializing in edible garden design. She has many years’ experience teaching urban pest management.
Learn how to prevent and manage common fruit tree pests and diseases – including codling moth, apple maggot fly, scab and fungal diseases – without toxic chemicals. Simple preventative measures such as practicing good tree hygiene and encouraging beneficial insects are encouraged. There will be hands-on demonstrations of some pest management techniques, such as installing maggot barriers.
The meeting is open to the public and everyone is invited. For more information, contact email@example.com or 425-398-5544.
